Now when the family travel season is over, autumn is the best time for singles and solo travelers to risk forth. Some would say that summer is the perfect time for a European vacation. We can disagree. Europe is full with tourists during the summer and that’s the time when airfares are the highest, the restaurant people are too busy and every other person on the street is asking the way, although carrying a map. The weather is even more delightful in spring and autumn when children are in school, rates are lower and the residents have more time to talk to you. But you can save even greater money when you travel in the off season. For Europe, that would be November through March, excepting certain holidays.
Days will be shorter, so you should do the sight-seeing early in the day, then plan onboard actives for the dark afternoon and evening hours - museums, shopping, concerts and such. February is often the best period to visit South America or even as far as Australia for warm, long summer days. Remember, when its winter above the equator, it is summer below.
If you do not like overcrowded beaches you should avoid the Caribbean and Hawaii in February because that is high season there. Another advantage of February is that usually your co-workers may prefer the weeks in June, July and August, so it would be easier for you to take the vacation. Of course, you may dislike the idea of traveling while the season of the monsoons and hurricanes, but, if you choose Europe, dressing for cold weather is simple - just wear thin layers of clothing.
